Prime Analytical Laboratories, LLC (PAL) is a fast-growing contract testing laboratory located in Concord, California. PAL provides analytical chemistry and microbiology testing services to the cosmetics, nutraceutical, medical devices, BioPharma and food companies. We are seeking a Temporary with potential for full time 40 hours/wk Microbiology/EM laboratory technician to perform environmental monitoring of clean room facilities, water systems and compressed gases systems. We are looking for a person willing to work hard, with great attention to detail to go to client facilities with the PAL team to perform environmental monitoring. The position is hourly and pays overtime based on California law.

Duties

The Microbiology/EM technician duties include the following activities:

  • Performs sampling and testing such as:
    • Travel to client facilities to perform the following sampling and testing:
      • Perform sampling of client cleanrooms. Testing includes viable and non-viable air particulate samples and sampling of surfaces.
      • Perform sampling and testing of compressed gases systems such as CO2, nitrogen, Oxygen and compressed air. Testing will include microbial load, non-viable air particles, moisture, and purity.
      • Perform sampling and testing of water systems for microbial load, TOC, conductivity, endotoxin and other chemical tests requested by the client.
    • Isolate and perform Gram strain of bacteria and fungi for identification.
    • Perform custom microbial studies as needed.
  • Follows protocols and procedures as needed.
  • Complies with cGMP and company policies as required.
  • Follow company safety policies.
  • Provides input and suggestions as part of the company's continuous improvement process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

An Associate college degree in science or equivalent experience with at least 5 credits in microbiology. The position requires at least 6 months of hands-on experience performing environmental monitoring in a GMP-regulated clean room environment. Basic knowledge of microbiology test procedures will be a plus.

Other requirements:

  • Excellent organizational skills along with good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as a team member.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to start work early (6 am), work overtime and weekends as needed to complete projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work legally in the US.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge or MS Word and Excel.

  • Physical requirements

    Ability to work perform repetitive movements such as typing or pipetting, lift 25 pounds, ability to count colonies with normal lab equipment, stand for long periods of time, and be able to gown to enter clean room areas.
