We are currently seeking a Project Transportation Engineer to advance internal project deliverables through technical leadership amongst the team, with little guidance from supervisors. The Project Transportation Engineer will utilize previous experience and understanding of technical and planning methods to accomplish deliverables quickly and efficiently. The Project Transportation Engineer will gain progressively higher levels of technical proficiency and greater degrees of management and leadership.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advance technical efforts of the team by utilizing multifaceted skills.
  • Apply industry principles associated with ITE Trip Generation, Highway Capacity Manual, AASHTO Green Book, and MUTCD and apply Local, State, and Federal design and zoning standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Perform site visits and field data collection.
  • Analyze using Vistro, Sidra, Synchro, and SimTraffic, and perform alternative assessments with evaluation criteria linked to project-specific transportation goals.
  • Remain proficient in the current software(s) packages/programs used at Gorove Slade.
  • Prepare Transportation Demand Management plans, Transportation Analysis and parking demand, occupancy, and shared parking studies.
  • Prepare conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports.
  • Prepare access and circulation plans, signing and pavement marking plans, truck, and vehicle turning exhibits using AutoTURN, and parking layouts for surface and structured parking facilities.
  • Design and create technical documents in AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
  • Advance the team effort by utilizing multifaceted skills to quickly learn and complete the following, with guidance and mentorship from supervisor and senior team members.
  • Provide guidance to the junior staff in answering any technical questions they may have.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to research, analyze, and resolve complex transportation issues.
  • Analyze and solve complex transportation planning problems dealing with all travel modes.
  • Design research methods, data collection, and survey techniques for projects.
  • Conduct GIS analysis, data analysis, and preparation of maps and graphics.
  • Support projects by preparing exhibits, including figures, charts, maps, schematics, etc., and using various multi-modal metrics, applying the correct metrics where needed based on the project type and purpose.
  • Examine plans prepared by others for compliance with design and zoning standards and best practices.


Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer encouraged.
  • Expertise in planning, analysis, design, and documentation.
  • Expertise in the principles, practices, and trends of transportation engineering.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Passion for collaboration throughout the development and execution of projects.
