The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring that magnet and cryogenic system engineering designs, manufacturing processes, and test/inspection methods are optimized for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing. The engineer will be involved in all aspects of products including feasibility analysis, detailed design, manufacturing and market introductions. Duties include working with Research and Development groups, Manufacturing Operations, Purchasing, Service and Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering efforts and perform engineering tasks to support assigned products.
  • Coordinate with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Marketing.
  • Work with engineers and suppliers to design for manufacturability. Lead and develop the processes to manufacture new products and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide equipment and process support including documentation of BOM’s, Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, Validation Testing and Schedule Planning.
  • Cryomagnetics’ products involve precision-machined components that operate in high vacuum conditions and at extremely low temperatures. Familiarity with machining, welding, leak testing, measurement devices and techniques, and basic electronics operation is preferred.

 

Educational / Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum BS in Manufacturing / Industrial, Mechanical, Engineering Physics or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering. Experience in new product development and transfer to manufacturing is preferred.
  • Excellent planning and decision-making capabilities.
  • Engineering computer skills in 3D CAD (preferrably Solidworks) as well as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Systems is a plus.
