Responsibilities:
Programming: Develop and write CMM programs based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer requirements. Utilize software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar to create efficient and accurate measurement routines.
Setup and Calibration: Set up CMM equipment, fixtures, and probes for specific measurement tasks. Calibrate machines to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
Quality Control: Conduct comprehensive inspections of manufactured parts using CMM equipment. Verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface characteristics to ensure compliance with specifications.
Data Analysis: Analyze measurement data using specialized software to generate detailed reports and graphical representations. Interpret results and identify trends or deviations from expected values.
Optimization: Continuously improve measurement processes and programs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability. Implement best practices and incorporate feedback from production and quality teams.
Training and Support: Provide training and support to CMM operators and production personnel on programming techniques, equipment operation, and interpretation of measurement results.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of CMM programs, measurement procedures, and inspection results. Ensure all documentation is accurate, organized, and compliant with quality standards.
Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance personnel, and production teams to address issues, implement corrective actions, and optimize manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines, including experience with PC-DMIS
Programming Expertise: Advanced programming skills in CMM software, including the ability to write complex measurement routines, utilize advanced features, and troubleshoot programming issues.
Metrology Knowledge: Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles, measurement techniques, and industry standards.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex measurement challenges, identify root causes of issues, and implement effective solutions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy when programming CMM routines, conducting inspections, and analyzing measurement data.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, convey technical information clearly, and provide training and support to others.
Quality Focus: Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction in all measurement activities.
Experience: Previous experience as a CMM programmer or in a related role involving metrology, quality control, or manufacturing is typically required. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and materials is beneficial.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with additional certifications, coursework, or training in metrology, programming, or quality assurance preferred.
