Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to oversee the design, manufacturing, build, and integration of Powertrain Automation systems. The successful candidate will manage projects through various phases, ensuring completion within budget and timeline constraints. This role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, project management expertise, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage automation projects, including automated machining lines and machine tending applications.
  • Lead projects through design, manufacturing, build, and integration milestones.
  • Resolve issues and manage tasks to completion, balancing customer accountability with corporate goals.
  • Identify and manage risks in customer documentation, specifications, proposals, and contracts.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and 3D viewers to review and understand mechanical designs.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
  • Negotiate effectively to achieve project goals.
  • Review and comprehend mechanical drawings, ensuring sound mechanical design principles.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers, Controls Engineers, Electricians, and Technicians throughout all project phases.
  • Conceptualize, write, and quote after-sales change order requests (OCR).
  • Assist in writing and reviewing machine manuals.
  • Prepare periodic reports for customers and corporate management.
  • Lead efforts in debugging, run-off, installation, training, and startup at customer sites.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience from Automotive or Automation Industry.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Project/Program Management.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D design software.
  • Strong understanding of automation platforms, including Cartesian Gantry systems, Articulating Robotic systems, conveyors, inspection devices, and pick-and-place devices.
  • Experience with automation technologies such as CNC machine load/unload, fastening, marking, testing, and vision systems.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Office, and Project.
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to manage competing interests.
  • Ability to work closely with global teams and in diverse environments.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work 50-hour weeks.
  • Willingness to travel intermittently to customer sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Industrial automation experience (required).
  • Experience with PLCs (required).
  • Familiarity with robotics and powertrain systems.
  • Math literacy, particularly in cost management, budgeting, and project statistics.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and variable schedules as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with global teams is a plus.
