Assistant Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing project support to Estimating and Project Teams.  This includes calculating project costs, procuring materials and services, interpreting project plans and specifications, scheduling project work activities and project oversight from project creation to the project close out process, as well as providing quality take off’s for Heavy Civil Highway Construction and Maintenance Projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews all documents needed to create material takeoff, including project specifications, construction drawings, and other associated drawings.
  • Reads and interprets Specifications to understand the project scopes.
  • Marks-up drawings using Bluebeam Revu software.
  • Exports and summarizes material takeoffs.
  • Monitor field construction and ensure compliance with construction plans and specifications.
  • Works closely with the Estimating Team to ensure takeoffs are completed within the project timeline.
  • Presents Take-off to the Chief Estimator with support from the Estimating Team, discussing any discrepancies and modifications to be made.
  • Quality control and project closeout.
  • Review of subcontractor applications for payment.
  • Project cost review, reporting, updating and accounting.
  • Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance.
  • Construction scheduling.
  • Procurement and expediting of material and equipment
  • Works with the Estimating, Project Management and jobsite work crews to ensure the successful completion of on-going or new projects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Computer proficient, intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications. Experience with Bluebeam software desired.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to project-related questions.
  • Self-directed and independently manage time and projects in a fast-paced environment; results-driven.
  • Hands-on knowledge of construction schedules, specifications, and drawings preferred.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Construction internship or other related construction work experience required.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices.
