About the job
The Press Brake / Laser Operator will be responsible for operating the machines for press brake and laser cutting.   Press Brake / Laser Operator must be able to troubleshoot any malfunctions or issues the machines may experience.  The operator is responsible for keeping a clean and safe work environment, assisting others when needed and complying with all safety procedures.
This position will functionally report to the Sheet Metal Foreman and work primary in a group fabrication setting.
 
Responsibilities:

• Apply 5S Manufacturing for Performance Standards.
• Responsible for and applying all Health and Safety practices.
• Operate fiber laser cutting machines to cut and shape metal materials according to specifications.
• Set up and adjust machine settings, such as speed and power, based on material type and thickness.
• Perform routine maintenance on all machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform any other duties as required by Supervisor within department to achieve company goals.
• Follow the hour-by-hour chart to hit daily goals.
• Set up and operate press brake machines to bend, form, and shape sheet metal according to cut cards and specifications.
• Select and install appropriate tooling as needed.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and trim releases.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and cut card specifications.
• Adjust machine settings as needed to achieve desired results.
• Monitor machine operation to detect any issues or malfunctions.
• General warehouse duties such as lifting.
• Shop clean-up at the end of each day.
• Maintain a good workflow.
• Follow instructions from supervisors.
• Follow and comply with all safety procedures.

 
Required:

• HS Diploma.  Ideal for the candidate to have trade school.
• 2+ years of experience operating sheet metal fabrication equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
• Proficiency in using computerized controls and software for press brake / laser machines such as Sigmanest, TruTops Boost or CAM Software.
• Knowledge of bend tolerances.
• Experience operating press brake and fiber laser machines.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and processes.
• Measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Familiarity with laser cutting techniques and practices.
• Workers are required to be on time for every assigned shift.
• Experience in receiving and implementing on directives and feedback from supervisors and other company personnel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
• Ability to understand fractions and measurements.

 
Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand 8-hour workday.
• Must be able to physically bend, reach, and walk regularly.
• Must be able to wear safety for the entirety of the workday.
• Ability to participate in all physical labor and physical tasks assigned.
