Reconstruction Estimator

Job Summary
The Estimator is responsible for gathering needed information to create the scope/estimate for repair and/or construction projects. The Estimator’s primary focus includes but not limited to sales, estimating, and project management.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Close sales after estimates are approved by the insurance company, making sure that good communication is maintained during the approval process with all parties involved (e.g., insurance, owner).
- Ensure that contracts are signed, that all policies and procedures of the company are reviewed with the client, and that the jobs sale is completed and properly noted as per HL Restoration’s protocol.
- Manage the customers’ expectations to ensure they understand all company policies, guidelines, processes and to ensure no deviation and loss of control of the job.
- Establish budget to ensure these estimates are profitable.
- Develop and negotiate scope with adjusters.
- All estimates are written with a minimum gross margin goal.
- Create supplements, change orders, credit requests as needed.
- Initiate/manage the turnover of a new project to a superintendent.
- Responsible for driving sales revenue and closing sales with client.
- All estimates are written with a complete understanding of the insurance company’s specific requirements.
- Ensure that all jobs are updated in a timely manner per HL Restoration’s protocol and that proper documentation needed for the job is loaded into the respective databases.
- Participate as a team in production alongside the superintendent to give a team approach to the job.
- Prepare and present proposals to prospective clients.
- Assist with business development and generating leads as necessary.
- Assist with accounts receivable.
- Will participate in emergency response as part of an on-call rotation.
- Perform all other duties as may be assigned.
Education, Experience, Credential, Licenses
- 3+ years of restoration and/or construction estimating required.
- Xactimate certifications preferred.
- High school or GED equivalency required.
- Valid driver’s license with no major restrictions required. Motor vehicle record must be acceptable to the company selected insurance carrier.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills in managing complex tasks and autonomy.
- Ability to manage priorities, tasks, and assignments.
- Computer skills including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet use (Excel).
