The Vice President of Fund Development is a thought partner with the Co-CEOs and responsible for the strategic leadership, design, and implementation of a comprehensive and multi-channel fundraising strategy. This individual will manage prospect pipelines, spark new fundraising initiatives and partnerships, and develop an efficient fundraising infrastructure for the organization.

This position reports directly to the Co-CEO and is based in the organization’s Berkeley office with a hybrid work schedule. The salary for this position is 180k.

Description of Duties

  • Establish and manage fundraising targets, including developing a multi-year plan for growth that secures new grants and contributions, and integrates the organization’s core values into fund development goals and strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to stay abreast of organizational priorities, align on opportunities for program support, and effectively communicate the organization’s vision, core values, and strategic plan to a diverse set of audiences.
  • Establish fundraising infrastructure: implement and maintain donor management systems and development practices to ensure effective record-keeping, tracking, and communication.
  • Supervise and support the Foundations + Grants Specialist to effectively prepare content, apply for relevant grants and programs, and ensure timely submission of reports and any other grant requirements.
  • Regularly research prospective funders and maintain a diverse donor pipeline for potential future support.
  • Assess the viability of additional fundraising programs, such as individual giving and sponsorships, and build opportunities within these areas.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration and partner with program leadership to effectively communicate progress and trends through philanthropic communications and materials.
  • Build and maintain visibility strategies for Co-CEOs with target audiences and serve as an organizational representative at community, business, and philanthropic events.
  • Communicate fundraising goals and share updates with key stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy, shared accountability, and continuous improvement to meet short and long-term fundraising targets.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years in professional fund development positions with experience providing team leadership and mentorship, building and maintaining relationships with funders, and executing direct solicitations.
  • Experience in and understanding of integrating principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging into fund development plans and goals.
  • Strong knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising strategies and procedures, such as building donor databases, acknowledgement best practices, grant reporting, and more.
  • Strong ability to partner with finance teams, manage budgets, develop revenue and expense projections, and other elements of financial tracking and compliance.
  • Skilled project manager who is resourceful and consistently follows through with the execution of plans.
  • Extensive knowledge of key philanthropic communities, success building partnerships with funders investing in sexual and reproductive health, equity, and aligned priorities a plus.
  • Excellent relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills who connects with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from diverse backgrounds.
  • Highly collaborative leader with the ability to inspire others to achieve shared goals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing commonly used fundraising databases, such as RaisersEdge or Salesforce.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience required
  • Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively at all levels internally and externally and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Computer skills appropriate for the position; including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Docs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations

A current California Driver’s License, current registration and current automobile insurance coverage is required if you drive on company business.
