RETIREMENT SERVICES ANALYST
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) to five (5) years of pension/benefits administration experience. Previous experience in the administration of defined benefit plans, processing benefit actions, and knowledge of the general rules associated with defined benefit plans and regulations is required.
 Knowledge of defined benefit retirement plans.
 Knowledge of eligibility for retirement determinations.
 Proficiency in math and analytical skills
 Ability to proficiently use computer applications (Microsoft Office, internet navigation, e- mails).
 Ability to listen to and understand information presented through spoken words or in writing.
 Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking or in writing so that others will understand.
 Ability to function with high level of attention to detail.
 Ability to provide detailed and correct information to supervisors and fellow workers.
 Ability to accurately enter and manage sensitive member data and manage the confidentiality of employees’ paper records.

Duties
 Performs benefit calculations in accordance with documented processes and procedures.
 Processes new retirees onto the annuity payroll, including adjustments and checks exceptions.
 Calculates post-retirement benefit changes such as post-56 military service, garnishments adjustments to gross benefits. Uses electronic tools to perform research of member information, FileNet, PeopleSoft, STAR, Legacy systems, and/or the future Pension Administration
System
 Provides auditable record and appropriate documentation of member interactions.
 Partners with other DCRB Benefits Administration staff to resolve issues or for supplemental information.
 Processes qualified domestic relations orders for retired members; corresponds with members, attorneys, and alternate payees concerning the order.
 Processes annual cost of living adjustments (COLAs).
 Recalculates survivor/ child survivor annuities.
 Makes temporary modifications to benefits.
 Inspects and evaluates quality of work; adheres to peer review process.
 Ensures thoroughness when processing the following cases for payment from the Police/Firefighters' and Teachers' retirement funds: normal retirement, retroactive payment, disability retirement, early or deferred retirement; survivors and beneficiary/estate payments; active member death benefits, surviving spouse applications; QDROs; garnishments; reinstatements; recalculations, purchase of service and refunds.
