· Contacting facility where procedure is scheduled to be done

· Insurance authorization

· Assist with collection of all pre-op labs, medical clearance, consents, orders, H&P

· Schedule surgical assist

· Verify consent form is signed if needed

· Collecting information about surgery from MD

· Verify and collect medical clearance if needed

· Coordinate pre-op labs

· Fax all documents to facility: Orders, Labs, H&P, Medical Clearance, Consent forms

· Follow-up post-op checks should be done on day 1 after surgery for outpatient surgeries and on day 3 for inpatient surgeries.

· Print all faxes and place in MD in-box

· Complete and send all disability paperwork for patients in a proper timeframe

Answer telephones, triage all calls you receive, CHART all orders/advice given over the phone

File all charts from the “file pile” at the end of the day or before patient appointments begin.

Copy charts for medical records request (other medical offices, insurance companies, subpoenas, ect)
