USDI is seeking a Corrosion/Integrity Engineer to join our Belleville, IL team. The Corrosion/Integrity Engineer, under direction from the Integrity Management Team, performs cathodic protection and integrity management services for both distribution and transmission clients predominantly in the Midwest in 24 states. Engineers at USDI typically have field responsibilities including site visits, surveys, and inspections. Field responsibilities include travel as well as the ability to maneuver field job site conditions.

Specific Job Duties include:

  • Performing cathodic protection services, including annual pipe-to-soil surveys, rectifier inspections, bond readings and casing inspections and troubleshooting of issues when found.
  • Performing AC and DC interference studies.
  • Installation of cathodic protection systems, both galvanic and impressed.
  • Installation of AC mitigation devices and grounding systems.
  • Installation of cathodic protection monitoring systems
  • Assist in the design of cathodic protection and AC mitigation systems.
  • Perform ECDA services including over-the-line surveys and direct examinations.
  • Oversight of in-line inspection (ILI) projects
  • Assist in the development of both distribution and transmission integrity management plans.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-4 years of engineering experience
  • AMPP CP or CIP certifications
  • Natural Gas, or Utility experience
  • Computer experience, especially with various applications including MS Office, ShareFile, SharePoint, and ESRI
  • Experience with utility locating, GPS, and/or GIS systems and mapping
  • Experience with manuals, documenting standards

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A 4-year engineering or engineering technical degree from an accredited university or college
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass initial and continuous federally required Operator Qualification evaluations
  • Ability to effectively operate various company-supplied equipment
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, management, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for co-workers, clients, and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a background and driving check, employment history, and drug screening
