Job Title: Shipping Clerk

Department: Logistics/Warehouse

Reports To: Warehouse/Shipping Manager

Location: 381 Buell Rd, Rochester, NY

Job Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and safe shipment of products. This role involves coordinating with various departments, preparing shipping documents, tracking orders, and ensuring compliance with company and carrier policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Order Preparation: Accurately pick, pack, and label orders for shipment based on customer specifications and company standards.
• Shipping Coordination: Schedule and coordinate shipments with carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL, freight companies) to ensure timely delivery.
• Documentation: Prepare and process shipping documents, such as bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
• Inventory Management: Assist with tracking inventory levels, managing stock counts, and reporting discrepancies.
• Quality Control: Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure they meet quality standards, verify that items are correctly labeled, and that all required items are included.
• Data Entry: Input shipping information and update order status in the inventory management system or other relevant software.
• Communication: Coordinate with internal teams (sales, warehouse, customer service) and external contacts (customers, carriers) to address any shipping issues or delays.
• Compliance: Ensure all shipments meet company and carrier guidelines, including regulations for hazardous materials and international shipping.
• Problem Resolution: Address shipping discrepancies, delays, and damaged products by working with appropriate parties to resolve issues quickly.
• Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, follow safety guidelines, and report any hazards or maintenance needs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
• Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred.
• Proficient in using shipping software and inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, ERP systems).
  • Preferred, not required if application has Epicor/Kinetic ERP background
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to [40#/ 18/kgs].
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Familiarity with common carriers and shipping procedures.

Work Environment:

• This position requires standing for extended periods, lifting heavy items, and operating equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified).
• The work environment is typically within a warehouse, which may involve varying temperatures depending on the season.
