Job Summary: The Warehouse Lumper is responsible for unloading, sorting, and organizing goods within a warehouse. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The lumper ensures that inventory is properly handled and stored, supporting the smooth operation of warehouse activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unloading: Unload goods from trucks and containers using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Sorting and Organizing: Sort and organize goods according to warehouse layout and inventory management systems. Ensure items are stored in designated locations.
- Loading: Assist with loading goods onto trucks or other vehicles for distribution.
- Inventory Control: Check and verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, inspecting for damage or discrepancies.
- Packing and Labeling: Pack and label items for storage or shipment, following specific guidelines and ensuring proper documentation.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep work areas clean and organized. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and operating machinery safely.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure efficient operations and address any issues that arise.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and other relevant data.
Qualifications:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for accurate handling, sorting, and documentation of goods.
- Basic Math Skills: Basic arithmetic skills for handling inventory counts and measurements.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or similar role is a plus but not always required.
- Certifications: Forklift certification or other relevant certifications may be required or preferred, depending on the employer.
