To Assume the responsibility for the planning, direction, and management of the North Caddo Medical Center Dietary Program which is designed to give the patient the best possible dietary care regardless of race or religion.

The job description is to be used as a guideline only and may not incorporate all functions of the job; education and experience outlines are ideal qualifications/assets but do not necessarily reflect the requirements of the position

  1. Maintains competent dietary staff to perform essential duties of department. Includes selection, termination, training, supervision, and evaluation of employees.
  2. Responsible for the planning and requisition of additional and replacement of large equipment. Dietary Supervisor is also responsible for notifying maintenance to provide maintenance and repair of all dietary equipment.
  3. Insures that all infection control precautions are adhered to.
  4. Responsible for working with the Consultant Dietitian to plan adequate menus for regular and modified diets in accordance with life cycle needs for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  5. Inspects meal preparation and service so that trays conform to the prescribed diet, menu and meet the standards for quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance. The Dietary Supervisor is also responsible for meal service to employees and visitors as necessary.
  6. Preforms Nutritional Screenings on all in-patients Monday through Friday and refers patients to Consultant Dietitian for Nutritional Assessments as indicated by screening information.
  7. Records in progress notes of patient’s medical chart: appropriate observations, patient care given, diet instructions, plans, and other pertinent information.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and developments over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Applies knowledge of age related factors appropriately to patients ranging from birth to geriatrics.
  9. Maintains patient confidentiality.
  10. Demonstrates a positive attitude and quality of work that promotes customer centered services.
  11. Dresses and conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  12. Keeps absenteeism and tardiness at a minimum and is available for extra time and duties where needed.
  13. Preforms additional duties as requested by the Hospital Administrator.
  14. Performs all procedures and conducts oneself in accordance with the North Caddo Medical Center polices and procedures.
  15. Compliant with all regulations as listed in the North Caddo Medical Center employee handbook.
    Education and/or Experience
    1. High school graduate or equivalent and Certified as a Dietary Manager.
    2. Must meet required continuing education hours for certificate.
    3. 5 years experience preferred.
