Position Overview:

Wine Me Up Social, a boutique wine-tasting lounge opening in October 2024, is seeking a part-time Wine and Food Server. We are looking for individuals with wine knowledge, hospitality experience, and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences. Our upscale establishment caters to professionals aged 30 and above, offering a trendy and relaxing atmosphere. This role is key in promoting our wine selections and wine club memberships while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Experience:
  • Greet guests and provide an outstanding hospitality experience.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Wine Me Up Social brand, embodying professionalism and warmth.
  • Maintain strong menu knowledge, deliver quick and accurate service, and provide wine and food pairing recommendations.
  • Pour wine, take guest orders, enter them into the POS system, and handle payments.
  • Sales & Promotion:
  • Suggest and sell wine effectively to meet sales goals.
  • Promote wine club memberships and special events to grow the business.
  • Educate guests about our wines, including varietals, regions, and tasting notes.
  • Food Service:
  • Serve small plates and appetizers that complement the wines.
  • Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards in accordance with health regulations.
  • Ensure high standards of food presentation and quality.
  • Operational Duties:
  • Assist with special wine events hosted at the lounge.
  • Open and close the lounge, ensuring all setup and closing duties are completed.
  • Stock the wine bar, manage inventory, and maintain basic cleaning practices.
  • Handle routine POS transactions accurately.
  • Take initiative to complete guest requests and tasks or projects assigned by management.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work effectively with teammates to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Follow policies and procedures to maintain compliance and high service standards.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Trustworthy and reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Strong wine knowledge is preferred.
  • Prior wine sales experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings with a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 40 pounds (e.g., a case of wine).
  • Certification requirements within 30 days of the job offer:
  • Food Handler Certification.
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
