Overview

The CAD Supervisor plans, assigns and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects. They use their knowledge and experience to ensure work completed in the department is at the highest levels of accuracy and timeliness. Their knowledge and experience are used to assist in the development of staff members and provide technical support.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

· Assists in the supervision of staff members and makes day to day decisions related to work product, technical applications and work assignments.

· Reviews project documents including quotations, architectural drawings and specifications, to evaluate job requirements and prepare Submittal/Shop/Engineering Drawings

· Demonstrates appropriate interaction and information sharing within the work group and with teams within the organization.

· Serves as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects

· Provides complete, accurate and timely drawing and design support for all company products

· Works closely with the department Manager to determine production standards for the department.

· Creates a complete set of working drawings, customer submittals, or fabrication dwgs and documents with AutoCAD or Inventor

· Review, self-check and peer-check completed drawings for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Drafting and Production Standards

· Prepares accurate fabrication schedules for engineered products.

· Revises drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements

· Maintains drawing files and project records, adhering to all document control policies and procedures.

· Interacts with project stakeholders to achieve positive results

· Anticipates problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawing produced,

· Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent

· Copy detailed plans and drawings and perform non-routine complex drafting assignments

· Assists in the development of more junior CAD Operators with all of the above

Experience and Skills

· Required proficiency in Inventor (2020 or higher), AutoCAD, and 3D Design

· Experience with Revit and BIM models a plus

· Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and related construction documents

· Ability to accurately dimension physical components; proficient with callipers and other measuring devices

· Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently

· Professional business level written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and/or structural drawings and details

· Must be a self-starter, well organized, and has strict attention to detail

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

· Minimum 3-5 years Drafting/Engineering experience as an individual contributor

· Experience as a Supervisor / Team Leader; demonstrates leadership characteristics and supervisory skills

· Demonstrated experience with drafting methods and tools.

· Experience in a Building Manufacturing, Construction, Architectural or related field preferred

· General knowledge of sheet metal fabrication including materials, processes and tolerances for shaping, perforating, forming and finishing

· Associates Degree in Drafting/Design or related field; Bachelor’s degree a plus
