We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.

Job Summary

The Production Helper assists the Multistage Operator and Second Operator with utilizing the multi-stage presses. The Production Helper ensures product meets quality standards and is run efficiently. This position will also assist in plantwide general duties as required. The role entails learning the Multistage Operator and Second Operator responsibilities to provide adequate coverage during staffing shortages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety rules and actively participate in the Safety, Health and Environmental program
  • Take direction from and assist Multistage Operator and Second Operator with all duties related to operation of press
  • Responsible for cleanliness of press and other areas as assigned by Supervisor
  • Empty rag cans, solid and liquid hazardous containers, and empty used blades
  • Label Hazardous waste cans properly
  • Wash-up and set-up on all presses
  • Prepare for wash-up by having all necessary supplies ready for each stage
  • Prepare materials for upcoming job on area of assignment
  • Coordinate with ink production suppliers to get ink to proper stage
  • Check and ensure viscosities and ink levels and Bring out inks as needed
  • Take out turns for every roll during production run, label and package as required
  • Stack pallets and presses with needed supplies
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of job
  • Learn solvent dispense system
  • Learn SAP process
  • Able to work Overtime hours and off shifts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED
  • General Mechanical Knowledge and Basic Computer Skills (i.e.Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Farnsworth-Munsell color test score of Average Discrimination or above
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to all levels of management
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to create and interpret bar charts/graphs
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure, take precise measurements, and ensure proper Page 2 of 3 customer specs
  • Successfully complete the training matrix
  • Ability to obtain Forklift License (training and certification provided by Surteco)
  • Exceptionally good and consistent color matching ability

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree •
  • Complete Forklift Certification if required
  • Previous Printing Experience



Work Environment and Environmental Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed
  • Must be medically qualified to use respiratory protection for wash ups
  • Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment
  • Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smell ]
  • Exposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditions
  • No travel requirements
