POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Athletics & Wellness Manager with the planning, development and implementation of a broad range of Aquatics programs and services during the out-of-school time hours, for youth between 3-18 years old at the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket. Part-Time, Monday-Saturday, 20-25 hours/week.

The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket is offering a one-time sign on bonus of $250 for qualified Part-Time candidates. This bonus will be paid in two installments and will be subject to payroll taxes. In the event that you separate from company within six months of your date of hire, you will be responsible for reimbursing the company for the entire signing bonus.  If you are a great fit for our Club, we would love to hear from you

Each of the areas of responsibility, listed below, are designed to further the organization’s mission of preparing youth for success by inspiring and enabling young people from Pawtucket and surrounding communities, especially those with greatest need, to realize their full potential as healthy, productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in planning, supervising, implementing and evaluating of aquatics programs, and the coordination of daily out-of-school time physical activities that support academic success, good character & citizenship skills, and healthy lifestyles consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  • Plan, supervise, implement and evaluate a balanced aquatics program inclusive of swim lessons, safety programs, recreational activities, swim team programming, as well as all other aquatics related activities.
  • Monitor youth attendance and ensure that staff encourage members to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership and guidance to assure conduct, safety, and development of members, addressing behavior concerns and communicating behavioral needs, challenges, and successes when necessary. Act as a role member to both staff and members.
  • Maintain a monthly calendar and daily plan book, including staff schedules, and ensure that all staff adhere to the daily schedule.
  • Ensure program areas are safe, all program equipment is appropriate, Club property is maintained in good working condition, and ensure all Aquatic Safety Plans and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) are communicated and enforced.
  • Assist in the coordination of the National Youth Outcomes Initiative, RI Program Quality Assessment, and the overall quality of programs, working with staff to create action plans for improvement.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and involve them in their child(ren)’s high quality and Club experience.
  • Use the Formula for Impact as a guide to create activities and programs that appeal to youth, engage them in planning and gear them towards future success.
  • Create an environment that highlights the achievement of youth by recognizing good behavior and accomplishments (ex: public recognition, parent contact, certificates, incentives etc…)
  • Demonstrate leadership and reinforce programmatic goals through daily interactions with Members. Work with Members to develop positive attitudes towards school, positive relationships with others and a healthy lifestyle.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires a minimum of 30 credits from an accredited college.  Candidates must be pursuant of a degree from an accredited college in a field related to youth development. Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate Degree or greater.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development agency.  
  • Ability to effectively manage youth behavior, implement programs and create a positive environment for all youth preferred.
  • Mandatory Lifeguard Certification.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.
  • Valid RI Chauffeur’s driver’s license or the ability to obtain once hired.

 KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage youth behavior, implement programs and create a positive environment for all youth.
  • Render excellent judgment skills, selecting the most appropriate course of action in any given situation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to development of youth between 6-18 years of age, group leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Maintain a high energy level, performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-data activities.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts as they arise.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written are required.
  • Regularly required to speak clearly and hear the spoken word.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speakers preferred.
