Job Summary:

The Waterjet Operator prepares and operates High Pressure Water Jet to process/produce high quality products.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operation, loading and unloading material and parts, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Studies and interprets mechanical drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
  • Ensure productions rates are met or exceeded.
  • Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
  • Communicates with management, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Suggest and implement improvements.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and performs basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Communicates all production related items to the next shift Water Jet operator or shift supervisors.
  • Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Waterjet experience is a plus.
  • CAD programming experience required.
  • Forklift experience needed.
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
  • Understanding blueprint reading/geometric tolerance interpretation.
  • Knowledge of the use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction well, work in rotating shifts, and maintain high integrity.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma of Equivalent
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Commitment to work safely in all aspects of the position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely move and handle large, heavy metal sheet, plate and parts using proper equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
