We also significantly develop new medications and treatments through our clinical trials division, Butchertown Clinical Trials.

Education and Experience:

  • This position is ideal for medical assistants looking to expand their skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Patient Care Responsibilities:
  • Perform technician-specific eye exam duties to prepare the patient for seeing the doctor
  • Understand and briefly explain the essential core eye topics to patients
  • Administer topical medication to patients
  • Setup, train, and assist with in-office surgical procedures and laser surgery
  • Triage acute patient concerns over the phone
  • Complete patient messages and full thorough documentation

  • Foster a continuous education mindset

  • Maintain professional personal conduct
  • Stay on task
  • Addresses patients and other staff with a high level of professionalism and respect
  • Understand HIPAA and stay compliant with its standards
  • CPR certification
  • Willingness to obtain COA status within 18 months of hire date
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain current knowledge of and use medical terminology
  • Well-organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Demonstrates computer literacy
  • Understand and utilize EMR and practice management software efficiently
Clinical Equipment Skills:
  • Understand and know how to use the equipment for photography and measurements of the eye, both externally and intraocularly
  • Understand essential maintenance of ophthalmic equipment
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to the clinical supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms per guidelines provided
  • Keep a total stock of supplies in the exam room
Compensation for this position starts at $16.00 - $18.00 per hour.Benefits Include:
