Drake Lighting Inc. is a customer-focused distributor of ETL Certified FAA approved obstruction lighting solutions. Located in Paducah, Kentucky Drake Lighting is the American distributor for Technostrobe, Inc. These lighting products are used to mark structures such as cellular communication towers, broadcast towers, industrial, chimney stacks, wind turbines and any other tall structures that are federally required to be lit according to FAA standards.


Job Summary:

This position requires a self-motivated draftsman who can work alongside our experienced staff at our company. In this role, your primary function is to create technical drawings for buildings & Wire schematic projects using a computer-aided design program AutoCAD. These drawings are an essential tool for our project team, so they must be very detailed, complete. You will usually work at our offices but will at times need to fulfill travel requirements and work on-site.  To be successful as a draftsman, you should stay up to date with new drafting software and advancements. An exceptional draftsman will demonstrate impeccable attention to detail and have sound knowledge of the discipline they draft for. 


Essential Functions:

  • Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings. 
  • Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CADD systems. 
  • Communicating with and incorporating knowledge gained from staff into drawings. 
  • Preparing, reviewing, and redrafting alongside the engineering team. 
  • Ensuring final designs are compliant and accurate. 
  • Identifying and communicating potential design problems.  
  • Calculate dimensions, review Bill of Materials (BOM) and customer requirements 
  • Design diagrams, maps, and layouts for illustration 
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards 
  • Assist in the creation of Manuals and associated product documentation. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience in computer-aided design and drafting (CAD)
  • 2 - 5 years of related experience in a related field

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or architecture. 
  • Certification from American Drafting Association (ADDA) 
  • Experience with electrical systems
