Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a System Administrator to join our team and help resolve server-related issues for clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1.      Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled job as backups.

2.      Assist in administration of various components of Windows servers across the enterprise.

a.       Administer Active Directory in a large environment, including DNS and DHCP.

b.      Administer Microsoft Entra ID Connect (formerly AD Azure), MS-authentication, and Exchange 365 Admin Center.

c.       Manage file/print servers and domain controllers.

d.      Administer Data Storage Area Network Systems, including Compellent, EqualLogic, Stonefly, and Cybernetics, with Microsoft iSCSI, and fiber Channel.

e.       Manage production applications and virtualization, including Hyper-V/VMware and Citrix and Hypervisor Clustering.

f.        Administer Disaster Recovery, batch scheduling, security protocols, patch management, and alert notifications.

g.      Administers user system.

h.      Provides operational support and backup/recovery assistance.

3.      Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

4.      Coordinates, collaborates, and communicates on daily basis with IT 3rd party services providers.

5.      Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resources optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

6.      Plan and undertake regular maintenance work across all IT systems.

7.      Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies.

8.      Support City Public Safety Communications center as needed.

9.      Be available on-call for after hour support, or schedule system maintenance after hours or weekend.

 

Qualifications:

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. For degrees obtained outside of the U.S., an official equivalency evaluation is required. Also requires 3 years’ experience of hand-on experience with information systems, enterprise networks, and associated software products. The 3 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory system administration and installation, 3 years of experience with SAN administration or hybrid computing installation.

  • Previous experience in IT, customer service, or other related fields
  • Ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • A college diploma, or a high school diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or a trade degree in a related field.
  • Possess current IT certification(s)
  • Computer Science related major and/or programming skills are preferred but not required.

Licenses/Certifications

Requires a valid Class C California driver’s license.

Highly competitive applicants will have one or more of the following certifications:

VMware VCP (VMware Certified Professional) and/or AZ-800 Training

Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure

AZ-801, Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services

This position requires some local travel. A reliable vehicle with proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license are required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S and pass a background check.

Be able to lift at least 50 lbs. individually.
