Position Overview: Charlton Oil and Propane is seeking a Tank Setter – Tank Inspector to work within our propane and oil departments of 6 technicians and a master plumber. For oil, this role involves a variety of functions and duties around the inspection of customer fuel oil tanks at homes and places of business. For propane, the role involves surveying customer sites for suitable propane installation locations, assisting in tank sets and operation of company crane truck for large propane tank installations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oil Tank Inspections
  • Perform basic inspections of customer oil tanks, photograph and document digitally into online database. Ability to use phone and tablet to take pictures and make online entries.
  • Have understanding Massachusetts Oil burner/tank codes and regulations.
• Propane Tank Sets
  • Understand NFPA 58 codes and rules for propane tank locations and setback requirements.
  • Assist with propane cylinder installations.
  • Perform larger propane tank sets using crane truck and operate crane at customer locations.
  • Transport tanks and cylinders from customer sites back to facility and prepare for re-use or recertification.
  • Perform general maintenance on propane tanks in field (replace lids, service/replace tank monitors, cathodic testing, touch up paint, labeling)
• Customer Service:
  • Interact with customers while performing service at their home or place of business. Inform customers of issues regarding oil tanks or propane tank locations.
  • Work with propane coordinator to schedule jobs and set realistic time tables for work.
  • Communicate with service manager on installation issues.

Qualifications:

• Basic mechanical knowledge and skills
• Hydraulic License and Mass Hoisters License (Class 1B, 1C)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
• CDL Class A or B license
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
