Job Summary: Working under the direction and supervision of the Histology Supervisor, the AP Histology Laboratory Associate I will conduct activities as they relate to nightly operations in the laboratory
Duties and Responsibilities (Night Shift 10:00 P.M. to 6:30 A.M.)
· Maintains reagents and equipment.
· Maintains files of pathology materials.
· Disposes of biohazardous waste.
· Disposes of hazardous waste.
· Operate Slide Printer and Cassette Printer.
· Assists histology staff.
· Files pathology slides, blocks and requisitions.
· Fills client supply requests.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Basic understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy.
· Accurately type at least 30 wpm.
· Basic user knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
· Ability to follow established procedures accurately and independently.
· Ability to prioritize work.
· Ability to identify and report problems.
Credentials and Experience
· Medical Assisting Diploma/Certificate preferred.
· Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
· Current valid driver license
