DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for establishing, implementing, maintaining and managing a variety of health and safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of state and federal safety guidelines for the workplace.
  • Is able to read and interpret dense legal and federal OHSA documents.
  • Exhibits knowledge of appropriate emergency protocols.
  • Possesses knowledge of legal repercussions of workplace accidents.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with job site machinery and products.
  • Ensure that federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed.
  • Manage OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct safety training for new and existing employees.
  • Help develop controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.
  • Coordinate with maintenance team on development and implementation of hazmat, LOTO procedures and policies.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • Provide advice and counseling for employees on compliance of safety rules regulations.
  • Plan, organize, supervise and evaluate emergency response actions and drills.
  • Investigate, compile, analyze, interpret, and report accidents.
  • Review property and injury reports.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a safety policy handbook and site-specific policies that are required by law
  • Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements.
  • Requisitioning of all safety supplies, products or training items as required
  • Manage the DuPont STOP Behavioral Safety Training component

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School Degree required and some college experience preferred

Experience leading safety in a business environment required

Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products required
