Primary Therapist

Job Overview: Our Primary Therapist will serve as part of an interdisciplinary team by providing initial and ongoing psychotherapeutic services and assessments of each inpatient to determine the most effective and useful counseling in treatment of their emotional and/or substance abuse problems. The Primary Therapist responsibilities includes the full continuum of care – from intake to discharge with the patient and their guardians and will eventually include the supervision of additional counselors.
Essential Functions:
Perform comprehensive psychosocial assessment for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders and medical needs. Conduct follow-up as appropriate based on results of evaluations.
Provide/direct daily therapy sessions in a group. Document and maintain client records according to established protocol, including submitting reports as needed.
Attend regular treatment team meetings to develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans, provide perspectives to total case management of the patient by discussing progress/ notes/charts, and communicating any state or local agency legal requirements with the interdisciplinary team.
Meet with patients/contact patient guardian to complete required activities i.e. obtain collateral information regarding living arrangements, patient request and MD ordered activities.
Provide on-going supportive case management functions in accordance with the problems, needs, and the strategies identified within the service plan to help the clients achieve the stated goals and objectives.
Complete discharge and aftercare planning packages in advance of discharge date.
Enforce program policies and guidelines, supervise clinical staff and manage counselor caseloads to comply with licensure standards and funding requirements.
Qualifications for the Position:
5 years of experience within a healthcare or addiction treatment facility, with a focus on adolescent services.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices in adolescent addiction treatment.
·Proficiency in MS Office products and web based clinical programs
·Excellent organizational, analytical, time management and project management skills
Knowledge of Therapeutic Community model and Cognitive Behavioral Theory
Ability to demonstrate strong crisis management, conflict resolution and anger management skills
Licenses and Certifications:
· LPC, LMFT or LMHC, with LCDC preferred
Education: Master’s Degree
