Job DescriptionJob Description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency of vehicles and equipment at all assigned locations. This role involves enforcing and administering the Company's Safety, Operating, and Compliance policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Key responsibilities include managing personnel, work schedules, work order completion, inventory and assets, quality of work performed, and relationships with vendors and service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  2. Schedule and monitor service, repairs, and other shop activities.
  3. Communicate effectively with the maintenance team, operators, and drivers regarding equipment status.
  4. Conduct quality inspections to ensure proper repairs and roadworthiness of vehicles and equipment.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the Company’s databases, files, and records.
  6. Conduct daily safety meetings with the crew to promote a safe work environment.
  7. Prioritize scheduled maintenance to ensure efficient workflow.
  8. Open, review, and close repair orders on time.
  9. Assign maintenance personnel to jobs based on their skills and capabilities.
  10. Determine necessary repairs and order parts for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  11. Ensure all materials have a current Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and that personnel are trained on their use.
  12. Prepare and deliver regular performance reviews to staff, at least annually.
  13. Lead and participate in safety meetings to reinforce Company policies and safety practices.
  14. Adhere to and enforce Company rules, policies, and procedures.
  15. Create, implement, and monitor workflow processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  16. Complete any additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent with 10-12 years of hands-on experience, or a technical school graduate with 4-6 years of experience.
  2. 5-7 years of experience in maintenance management, specifically with large fleets handling hydraulic, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, engine, transmissions, and special body applications.
  3. Strong mechanical background and knowledge.
  4. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  7. Must be over 21 years old.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  2. Safety or OSHA training certifications.
  3. Maintenance management or supervisory certifications.
  4. Training in Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS); experience with Dossier is a plus.
  5. Certified as a Department of Transportation (DOT) inspector.
