Position Overview

We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable candidate to join our team as an Engineering Technician. This position is best suited for someone who is looking to grow with ASI, is highly organized, has strong personal and professional skills, is comfortable with hands-on and technical work and who will represent the company well with clients and the community and exhibits the following characteristics:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision,
  • Ability to follow relevant safety standards,
  • Attention to detail and accuracy,
  • Ability to multitask, effectively prioritizing and executing multiple tasks, and
  • Ethical conduct.

 

As the Engineering Tech, you will assist in conducting dye dilution tests for verification of flow meters and will also assist in installation of monitoring and data communications equipment. Helping civil engineers plan and design may also be required.

 

Minimum Qualifications (required to apply)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Basic proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Have a valid Michigan Driver’s License
  • Have Driving Record and Skills to be able to obtain a Chauffeur Certificate
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule

 

Additional Qualifications (not required, but favorable)

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or engineering technician or an associate’s degree preferably in civil engineering technology
  • Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Testing or laboratory experience
  • Experience in driving and pulling trailer

 

Responsibilities

  • Sampling and laboratory work with wastewater
  • Read and review project drawings and plans to determine the size of structures
  • Confer with engineers to prepare work plans and schedules
  • Conduct field surveys to collect data on site conditions and inspect structures
  • Observe project sites to ensure that construction conforms to design specifications and applicable codes
  • Prepare reports and document project activities and data
  • Set up and help maintain project files and records
