Job Summary:

We are seeking a Journeyman Carpenter to join our team.This role requires expertise in various carpentry techniques, knowledge of building codes, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. The Journey Carpenter works independently or as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and to high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Construction and Installation:

    • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
    • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines.
    • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware using carpenter's hand and power tools.
  2. Blueprints and Drawings:

    • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, materials required, and installation processes.
    • Make accurate measurements and calculations to ensure precise fits and finishes.
  3. Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Perform maintenance and repair work on existing structures, including the replacement of damaged or defective parts.
    • Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations during all phases of work.
  4. Finishing Work:

    • Apply finishing materials, such as laminates, veneers, and stains, to completed structures.
    • Perform detailed finish work, including the installation of moldings, trim, and other decorative elements.
  5. Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, including electricians, plumbers, and painters, to complete projects.
    • Provide guidance and training to apprentice carpenters as needed.
  6. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper handling of tools and materials.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience as a professional carpenter.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as woodworking machines.
    • Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
    • Excellent mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
    • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
    • Good physical condition and stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and equipment.
  • Dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, depending on the project.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions and construction site hazards.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
