Primary Purpose:
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will provide a dynamic learning environment and deliver purposeful, educational-based occupational therapy. The role involves implementing treatment plans targeting fine motor, visual motor integration, coordination deficits, dysregulation, sensory issues, and behavioral deficits. The COTA will track student progress, analyze data to intervene effectively, and consult with general and special education staff to adapt and modify the educational environment for better student access.
Minimum Education/Certification Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree from an AOTA accredited program.
- Experience: 1+ year of experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
- Certification: Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Licensure: Valid COTA license from the State of Texas.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- IEP Implementation: Review and ensure the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with extensive knowledge of assessment tools and criteria for identifying students with fine motor deficits, dysregulation, sensory issues, and behavioral deficits.
- Direct/Indirect Services: Provide high-quality direct and indirect IEP services. Maintain and monitor daily logs for direct and indirect services, including ARD logs and Evaluation logs.
- Collaboration: Partner with Occupational Therapists and special education teachers in IEP development, progress report completion, and goal updates.
- Evaluations: Complete initial and re-evaluations prior to deadlines, develop IEPs aligned with the curriculum, and update progress reports in Frontline.
Pay Rate:
Compensation will be based on factors such as specialty, shift schedule, level of experience, and performance location.
