The Role

The Vice President, Finance will be responsible for financial analysis and reporting, budgeting, profit planning, and business forecasting, financial control systems, back-office operational efficiency, and cost accounting. This position will interact frequently across departments and functions as well as be assigned to support special project and ad hoc requests.

The qualified candidate will be a high-energy self-starter with a strong work ethic who excels at both day-to-day tactical execution as well as long-term strategic planning. This individual must be motivated by a competitive industry and be an expert at fulfilling customer requirements and maximizing profitability; excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as strong financial acumen, will all be key.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to strategic planning, and goal setting for the division in collaboration with leadership team members.
  • Monitors internal controls of each of OWL’s business units.
  • Assists and/or facilitates the annual business planning and quarterly forecast update process ensuring a high level of transparency and accuracy.
  • Participates in budget and forecasting review meetings with the senior executive team.
  • Performs post-acquisition project reviews comparing actual results with original underwriting to identify trends or gaps as well as areas of improvement for future deals.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and presents financial and nonfinancial data to management as needed when reviewing existing lines of business or when considering new markets.
  • Attends budget review meetings to ensure transparent and accurate budget practices are employed.
  • Updates associated cost of sale standards because of budget movements on a timely basis.
  • Provides analytical support to the management team to improve retail technology operations and to identify opportunities for margin and return on investment improvement in areas such as revenue strategy, and timing and cost reduction.
  • Reviews the division financial reporting package and associated local management schedules for completeness/accuracy.
  • Collaborates with Division leadership and other leadership team members for process improvement efforts driven to standardized processes in all aspects of operations.
  • Help with coordination of back-office operations including payroll and commissions, accounts payable coordination, purchasing/architecture, and construction coordination,
  • Guides all financial functions and other accounting/operational procedures within OWL.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience leading and expanding teams.
  • Percentage of Completion/POC Accounting experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance or accounting
  • CPA or MBA with financial planning experience preferred
  • Experience with Great Plains a plus
  • Strong technical / analytical skills
  • Understanding of financial and business acumen
  • Able to lead / support new process development and implementation
  • Strategic thinking
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high degree of accuracy
  • Proven critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
