SUPPLIER ENGINEER

Seeking a Supplier Engineer with expertise in fabrication, supplier qualification, and manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include managing supplier relationships, conducting qualification processes, and optimizing manufacturing. Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, 10+ years of experience, and significant travel. Preferred: Professional certifications and proficiency in Office 365 and ERP systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure clear communication and mutual understanding of expectations, quality standards, and production timelines.

Supplier Qualification Management:

  • Lead the supplier qualification process by evaluating potential suppliers' capabilities, capacities, and quality systems.
  • Conduct on-site audits and evaluations to ensure alignment with company standards.

Manufacturing Process Expertise:

  • Utilize manufacturing engineering knowledge to assess and improve suppliers' processes.
  • Collaborate on process optimization to enhance product quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.

Quality and Compliance Assurance:

  • Enforce adherence to quality control protocols, standards, and specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate the quality of supplied components.

Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain processes, reduce lead times, and mitigate supplier-related risks.

Technical Support and Collaboration:

  • Provide guidance to suppliers and address technical challenges during fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate on design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives to enhance component manufacturability and assembly.

Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution:

  • Proactively identify and address potential issues or bottlenecks in the supply chain and manufacturing processes.
  • Implement effective solutions to ensure timely delivery of components.

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of supplier interactions, audits, and improvement initiatives.
  • Generate comprehensive reports to communicate supplier performance and continuous improvement efforts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with design, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to align supplier capabilities with product requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years in fabrication, supplier qualification, and manufacturing operations, with expertise in fabrication techniques, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
  • Travel Requirements: Extensive remote work with significant travel to key suppliers in Canada and Mexico.

Preferred:

  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CQE, or CSQP are strongly preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent critical thinking, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in industry standards, quality management systems, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in all Office 365 elements and ERP systems.

Business Travel: Significant travel will be required to visit key suppliers in Canada and Mexico.
