POSITION SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of functions to provide planning and coordination involved in the material distribution and transportation flow of all goods and services that support the Company's operations by ensuring materials, supplies, tools, production setups, and finished goods are in place to meet or exceed internal and external Customer's expectations.  Work with Production Control planners to develop and implement production and delivery schedules. Acts as mentor for junior Material Handlers.  May also serve in functions that involve stores/receiving, shipping, returned/finished goods, and inventory analysis.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1)    Provide material control services that include the accurate and efficient processing of paperwork, data entry, order picking, delivery, record keeping, and counting of materials, supplies, tools, and finished goods; provide support for packaging and shipping of material to internal and external customers.

 

2)    Apply advanced personal computer functions to access production control and material data systems to assist in the development and implementation of shipping and delivery schedules, tool control schedules, manufacturing setup schedules, and production schedules.

 

3)  Work with production control planners, manufacturing supervision and tool setup to prioritize work orders and manufacturing or tool set-up tasks in an assigned production cell.  Assist supervision and workforce in the resolution of work order or shop supply discrepancies, problems and/or concerns.

 

4)  Transport parts, materials, supplies, tools, and production setups by hand or with  

     mechanical devices, such as tow motors, forklifts, or light trucks.

 

5)  Maintains clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties)

      in full compliance with company standards, customer and government regulations.

 

 6)  Mentors/provides guidance assistance and training to junior Material Handlers.

 

 7)  Assists in the development and maintenance of a business culture, which supports

      the Company's overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in

      issues that involve “cost, quality, process, schedule and people”.

 

 8)  Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the

      environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and

      adherence to various government regulations.

 

10)  Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

EDUCATION

 

High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

·         Requires a minimum of five years related experience or college degree in lieu of experience in material management.

·         Requires advanced computer skills, basic math skills to include data and report analysis.

·         Must be certified to operate all cranes.

·         Certification in lift operation may be required.

·         Must have a valid California driver’s license (CDL).

·         Demonstrate, among co-workers and with management, a high level of initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

·         Organize assigned workplace and activities in a flexible manner, to ensure the completion of assignments under frequently changing priorities.

·         Must be willing to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements.

·         The ability to work as a team player as well as independently is required.

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

·         Manual dexterity

·         Ability to stand for long periods of time.

·         Lift up to 50 pounds

·         Able to work in a machine shop environment.

·         May be required to work non-standard hours and shifts in support of customer requirements.

·         Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions.

·         Ability to multi-task.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

May require prolonged periods of sitting.

May require periodic lifting up to 20 pounds.

May require repetitive use of hands and good manual dexterity.
