Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThis 100+-year-old client of ours is seeking a Controller to oversee the operations of their accounting department. Responsibilities:
- Work to continuously improve, maintain, and enforce documented systems of accounting policies and procedures
- Utilize technology advancements for efficiency and automation
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department with the Chief Financial Officer
- Evaluate the effectiveness of ERP and supporting database
- Prepare, process, or ensure daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual employee benefits account reconciliation
- Monitor, value, and track assets
- Oversee payroll and accounts payable processing
- Manage billings and accounts receivable collections
- Prepare or ensure daily and monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Improving efficiencies by maintaining and modifying the chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting electronic file system
- Ensure appropriate cash balances among multiple accounts and entities
- Maintain appropriate internal controls over accounting transactions
- Hire, train, and develop skilled accounting staff
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 8+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
- Experience leading and managing a team
- Construction industry knowledge is a plus
- Experience working with multiple entities is preferred
- Previous experience managing payroll is a bonus
