Preschool Aide

POSITION SUMMARY

The Preschool Aide is responsible for assisting the lead teacher to organize, run, and maintain the classroom environment while also assisting to engage, teach, and manage a classroom of 4-5 year of students. In addition, the Preschool Aide will perform daily tasks to maintain the classroom schedule and environment. At the core of this position, the teacher’s assistant will provide support for the lead teacher as well as support for each student in efforts to meet the preschool’s goal to best prepare all students to move on to kindergarten.

Because it is imperative to build strong rapport with each student and their respective adults, the Preschool Aide should possess excellent communication skills, strong initiative, patience, enthusiasm, and a LOVE of working with preschool aged children. Hard work, dedication, time management and creativity are required each day in the classroom.

Candidates should prepare a minimum of two references to provide at the time of the interview.

The Preschool Aide will work with one lead teacher and two classrooms of 4–5-year-old students Monday through Thursday for a maximum of 29 hours weekly. Work is primarily completed at the school during regularly scheduled hours. Some preparation and acquiring of materials may have to be completed outside of the school and outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director, Parks & Recreation. The position is non-exempt under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
