This position serves as a leader within the firm across operations and project functions. This includes assisting in the profitability and growth of business, client retention, new client acquisition, operation and project management, staff recruitment and retention, along with employee training and mentoring.

Positional Minimum Requirements:

·         Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or other discipline relevant to the firm’s services.

·         Professional Engineer (PE) Registration.

·         Working history in the following areas:  

o   Hands-on design and construction services experience.  

o   Staff leadership & development.

o   Project management.

o   Maintenance of a profitable line of business. 

o   Client acquisition (Business Development) management & retention. 

o   Working for, or with, key customers inside the industry. 

·         Demonstrated professional history with decision makers (existing or perspective clients) in the firm’s market segment(s); maintains high level of trust and respect from customers and peers. 

·         Demonstrated ability to bring in new business as well as maintain existing business.

·         Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues with several decision-making entities.

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

·         Demonstrated ability to work extended hours when necessary.

·         Demonstrated ability to take on multiple responsibilities.

·         Familiarity with personal safety while on construction sites.

Positional Duties:

·         Supervise firm professionals and support personnel, evaluate performance, assign and schedule work, establish project priorities and standards, make recommendations on hiring and promotions, provide technical support of project work, and if necessary, employee terminations.

o   Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.

o   Leads internal teams/task forces

o   Approves team members' time and expense reports in a conscientious and timely manner.

o   Reviews the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate.

o   Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.

·         Establish QA / QC procedures to effectively reduce exposure to errors and omissions and also uphold the Firm’s character and objectives.

·         Provide the framework and support to Project Managers to ensure projects are understood, properly planned for, and appropriately staffed to accomplish customer specifications and expectations.

·         Conduct constructability reviews or assists in the design/planning/review of other civil engineering projects not assigned to the incumbent.

·         Market the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.

·         Prepare proposals and statement of qualification package for potential projects and customers.

·         Assist in the preparation of the department/division budget and policy implementation and implementation of such items.

·         Participate in the selection of design teams and sub consultants and in the negotiations of fees and subcontractors.

·         Assures project legal documents are completed and signed.

Carryout subordinate positional duties and responsibilities as necessary to fulfill project requirements.
