Are you passionate about breathing new life into legacy systems? Do you possess a unique blend of mainframe expertise and modern technology knowledge? If so, then a Mainframe Modernization Architect role might be your perfect fit

As a Mainframe Modernization Architect, you'll be the strategic leader guiding the transformation of critical mainframe applications. Your responsibilities will involve:

  • Modernization Strategy Development: Assessing current mainframe applications and crafting comprehensive modernization roadmaps. This includes evaluating migration approaches (cloud, on-premise, hybrid), identifying modernization techniques (API enablement, containerization), and prioritizing initiatives based on business value and technical feasibility.

  • Technical Architecture Design: Designing future-state architectures for modernized applications, leveraging modern technologies like cloud platforms, microservices, and APIs. You'll ensure integration with existing systems and adherence to security best practices.

  • Technology Selection and Evaluation: Staying current with the latest modernization tools and technologies, recommending and evaluating solutions that best fit specific modernization goals.

  • Project Leadership: Leading and mentoring cross-functional teams consisting of developers, operations staff, and business stakeholders throughout the modernization process.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering collaboration across teams to ensure project success.

  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with modernization initiatives.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Solid understanding of mainframe technologies (z/OS, CICS, DB2, JCL) and their limitations in today's IT landscape.

  • Deep knowledge of modern technologies like cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and API management tools.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing modernization strategies for legacy applications.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to bridge the gap between technical and business teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on strategic planning.

  • Ability to stay abreast of emerging trends in mainframe modernization and cloud technologies.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in leading and managing large-scale IT modernization projects.

  • Certifications in mainframe and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect)

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps methodologies and tools.

If you're a visionary leader with a passion for innovation and a knack for transforming legacy systems, then this role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be at the forefront of mainframe modernization
