Conrail has an immediate opening for the position of Electrician in North Jersey. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform electrical inspection, maintenance, repair and testing activities on diesel/electric locomotives and electrical components in a shop environment or outdoors.

GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must understand the principles of electricity.
  • Read manufacturers' manuals for technical information.
  • Read and interpret prints, schematics or wiring diagrams.
  • Must be qualified to work on three-phase electrical circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, repair or replace electronic and microprocessor-based equipment.
  • Repair or replace high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers or transformers.
  • Install, disassemble, or replace parts or pieces of equipment or systems.
  • Start, stop, monitor operations, and make minor adjustments to machines.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work in varying weather conditions.
  • Work in a setting where the focus is on the task.
  • Work safely around potentially hazardous materials/machinery.
  • Wear protective clothing.
  • Respond to changing work assignments.
  • Work non-standard hours or various shifts.
  • CDL Not required, but helpful.
