Job description

Under the direction of the Distribution & Warehousing Manager of Brothers Desserts, oversees the efficient and safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and distribution of finished products and ingredients. Direct supervision over freezer, loaders, pickers, palletizing, plus any other employees as assigned. This position is responsible for the training of current and new freezer employees in procedures, processes, and methods that are essential to the efficient operation of the freezer. This position is responsible for the storage of ingredients, and finished products accordance with manufacturers' recommendations, internal food safety requirements, organic requirements; and FDA, WDATCP, SQF, and USDA regulatory requirements.

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deem necessary.

1. Direct, lead, manage, and supervise all assigned employees.

2. Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments to ensure that all finished products and frozen ingredient storage functions meet all company, regulatory and customer standards.

3. Ensure that all finished products and frozen ingredients are stored in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations, internal food safety requirements, organic requirements and in accordance to regulatory standards that are established by GMP, OSHA, FDA, SQF, WDATCP and USDA.

4. Ensure the training of new and current freezer and palletizing employees in procedures, processes and methods required to achieve the company's standards for efficiency, quality, quantity and safety.

5. Transfer product from Irvine to Santa Ana, this is to include investigation of all variances and review of all related documentations.

6. Continually evaluate processes, procedures and methods, recommend measures to improve

delivery, storage and distribution methods as they relate to ingredients and packaging.

7. Know and understand all freezer, warehouse, and warehouse supervisor functions; and provide backup to the warehouse supervisor and freezer employees during peak times, vacations, absences, etc.

8. Evaluate the finished goods inventory report daily to ensure that inventory levels are consistent with future orders. Order product from the Manufacturers Drive facility when inventory levels do not meet future order needs.

9. Arrange for shipment of finished product this requires the daily review of inventory levels. This is to include producing and executing transfer orders within ERP.

10. Coordinate storage loads pick-up times with dock and personnel availability. Review order pick sheets the day before the order is scheduled to ship to insure sufficient quantities are available.

11. Ensure the accuracy of completed loads and all accompanying documentation or paperwork.

12. Direct and coordinate monthly physical inventory of all items stored in the facility. In cases where variances are present, coordinate the recounting of items to verify initial inventory counts. Cycle counting might be required on some occasions.

13. Ensure that all quality hold product is captured and labeled in an efficient and timely manner.

Ensure on hold inventory is segregated in the hold inventory area. Complete all on hold paperwork. Release on hold inventory only at the direction of the Quality Food Manager.

14. Adhere to lot code tracking program that has been established by Brothers Desserts and that is regulated by the FDA. Use of a first-in, first out (FIFO) policy to ensure proper lot code rotation.

15. Ensure the accurate completion of all required freezer / distribution paperwork, records, documentations and lot code tracking records.

16. Oversee the maintenance and repairs of forklifts and other freezer equipment. This requires communication and consultation with outside vendors.

17. Assist with, coordinate, and administer company policies and programs as they relate to the warehouse and freezer operations. Develop and implement warehouse and freezer departmental policies, procedures, processes and methods.

18. Ensure compliance of all safety and work rules.

19. Participate in weekly supervisor meeting and other planning meetings as required. Report on freezer and palletizing performance and /or freezer I warehouse issues at weekly supervisor meeting.

20. Conduct corrective and/or disciplinary action and replace non-performing or poor-performing freezer and palletizing employees when necessary.

21. Schedule freezer employee vacations according to the company policy.

22. Promote a safe, secure and positive work environment for all Brothers Desserts employees.

23. Communicate needed repairs and maintenance of freezer equipment, storage racks and freezer infrastructure to maintenance staff verbally and/or through written work orders.

24. Complete multiple daily walk-throughs of facility and freezers.

25. Spend adequate time on off-shifts to evaluate training, policy compliance, etc
