Job Description:

Important to note, that I need the individuals to know how to work denials, front end rejections, insurance retractions, and understand ICD-10 billing codes.

The Client is seeking a customer service oriented Collection Agent to support the Finance Department and the citizens of Chesapeake. The successful candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Among other duties, the Collection Agent will be responsible for the tasks listed below:

• Provides internal and external customer service by responding and assisting taxpayers with resolution of issues and inquiries concerning delinquent accounts.

• Posting of payments for delinquent accounts, processing related documents such as statements or returned mail, and updating insurance information per patient request.

• Works patient and insurance bad debt accounts to secure payment on outstanding balances.

Job Description

• Researches insurance retractions/adjustments based on explanation of benefits received and adjusts accounts as needed as well as calling insurance companies to request reconsideration and instruction.

• Arranges for debt repayment or establishes repayment schedules with taxpayers.

• Offers suggestions to management with ideas to improve customer interaction and streamline processes

 

Required Qualifications:

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in accounting or a closely related field.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:
Medical billing/coding experience is preferred.

Notes:

Medical Collections Agent: -

  • Medical Collections or Billing background
  • Working with denials and rejections on claim
  • Should know ICD10 codes
  • great cust skills, talking to customer and insurance companies
  • collecting on invoices
  • Exp with insurance companies, medicaid or medicare or VA Veterans Benefits, anthem etc
  • pref - experience with ambulance train sports
  • Apart from the skills mentioned below if the person is having experience in EMS (emergency medical Service ) for Ambulance Transport will be a plus point.
  • No restriction of sending resumes , candidate should be locally based or as per the city guidelines.
