Job DescriptionJob Description

The purpose of this position is to maintain forklift serviceability by completing preventive maintenance requirement and repairs; maintaining vehicle records; troubleshooting mechanical failures.

Requirements

Good writing skills, ability to communicate legibly and clearly through writing.

Ability to speak fluent English.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Maintenance mechanic certification.

Experience or technical training on electric and propane forklift maintenance and repair.

Ability to operate all types of lift trucks including reach and fork lifts.

 

Key Tasks

-          Safety

-          Conduct preventive maintenance and repair on warehouse material handling equipment.

-          Perform preventive maintenance on equipment handling batteries.

-          Maintain equipment records of repairs and or preventive maintenance schedule.

Responsibility Detail

Safety:

Safety must be the Number #1 priority of all employees at all times. As a maintenance mechanic this position utilizes tools in order to repair and maintain heavy equipment.  Employees must be aware of their own safety and that of the people around them.  Working safe is a Condition of Employment.  Employees in this position must be versed in the lock out / tag out procedure.

Preventive Maintenance and Repair:

1.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair on electric pallet jacks.

2.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair on electric walking jacks.

3.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair on electric sit-down forklifts.

4.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair on electric stand-up forklifts.

5.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair on electric reach-lift forklifts.

6.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair on propane sit-down forklifts.

Material Handling battery maintenance:

Perform preventive maintenance and repair on all material handling equipment batteries by ensuring that batteries have sufficient water and battery acid, all cells in working order, battery wires and connectors are in good repair and batteries are charged for a full cycle prior to use.

Maintain Vehicle Records:

1.      This position maintains records of repairs for each piece of equipment through the use of work orders.

2.      This position maintains records of preventive maintenance schedule per equipment manual.
