Safety & Compliance Director

The Safety & Compliance Director develops, evaluates and oversees policies and procedures.
They direct and coordinate safety training activities, and investigate safety violations and
accidents for fuel distribution, construction, and service sectors by performing the following duties
personally or through team supervisors. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and
other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted.
They will provide programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill
training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal
procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data
and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting.
Additionally, the Safety Compliance Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent
accidents, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
1. BS degree required. Degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Heath, or Health and
Safety preferred.
2. At least 5 years of related experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
3. Extensive OSHA Guidelines knowledge base.
4. Experience with fuel industry preferred.
5. Proficient in software tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
6. Honesty, integrity, and a strong desire to succeed.
7. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
8. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel issues with colleagues and customers.
9. Ability to create and maintain cooperative and collaborative team building relationships.
10. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
11. Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do what is necessary to get the job done.
Physical Demands and Environmental Condition Requirements
Occasional:
Standing, walking, driving, lifting, and carrying up to 10 lbs., pushing and pulling, use of hand and
foot controls, stooping, forward bending, reaching, and seeing.
Frequent:
Sitting, talking, hearing, use of hands and fingers.
Priorities:
- 5 years Safety experience
- Transport experience (does not necessarily have to be fuel)
- Must have experience with DOT, OHSA, Environmental Compliance, etc.
