PART TIME LIMITED HOURS. REQUIRED 2 HOURS PER MONTH AND ON CALL.

 

The Staff Pharmacist job description is as follows:

  1. Upholds the compliance and state licensure requirements as mandated by state legislation and the Board of Pharmacy. Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with all regulations, company policies, and standards.

  2. Counsel’s patients and answers their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, patient information privacy, generics, therapeutic interchanges, over-the-counter products, and refer to a medical provider as needed to ensure medication is taken properly and health needs addressed.

  3. Performs pharmacist tasks including drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and accurately dispenses prescribed medications.

  4. Accountable for ensuring the use of all elements of the Control Substance policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions are followed by all pharmacy personnel. The Product Review/Retail Fill Process Pharmacist has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the elements of the policy are present.

  5. Security shall be monitored continually by the pharmacy manager and other staff members to ensure no person shall be permitted or illegally enter the pharmacy department in the absence of the pharmacy manager or other licensed pharmacist.

Locks and deadbolts shall be maintained and routinely examined for signs of wear and/or tampering.

  1. The Pharmacy Manager shall be responsible for and possess all keys to the pharmacy department and shall provide all necessary keys to other pharmacists at his/her sole discretion.

  2. Accountable for safe medication storage, diversion monitoring and other key pharmacy inventory activities.

  3. Follows up with medical providers’ offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions and, allergies to suggest alternative medications and answer medical provider questions.

People & Performance Management

  1. Supervises all technicians, interns, and students in the execution of pharmacy operations, including but not limited to record- keeping and auditing, inventory, and pharmacy maintenance

  2. Promotes teamwork and motivates team members by establishing expectations, tracking results, showing enthusiasm, and sharing vision.

  1. Ensures compliance with all company policies, and applicable employment laws, and is consistently fair in the treatment of all team members.

  2. Communicates regularly with team members through one-on- one discussions, group meetings, soliciting input, answering questions, and ensuring communication lines are open between management and non-management team members.

Training & Personal Development

  1. Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications.

  2. Maintains awareness of developments in pharmacy care and pursues best practices that would enhance performance and health outcomes through proper execution of standard operating procedures.

  3. Stays up-to-date on state/ federal law and policy changes.

  4. Obtains necessary certifications, and education credits, and complete straining as required by the Company.

  1. Follows performance improvement plans offered by the owner/ supervisor.

  2. Seeks professional development by monitoring one’s performance and solicits constructive feedback.

Communication

1. Conducts community outreach and participates in company marketing activities.

Business Performance Management

  1. Identifies sales opportunities to ensure the growth and performance of the pharmacy.

  2. Supports pharmacy asset protection activities and supports inventory management efforts.

Business Planning

  1. Develops and maintains good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers.

  2. Collaborates and builds strategic partnerships that result in win- win results.
