Reports to:  Production Supervisor or Operations Manager

Summary of Job:

This employee has the ability to run any part from a drawing and can set up any job on any machine.  Independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general supervision.   Has gained full proficiency in a broad range of activities related to the job. 

The incumbent must possess excellent people skills and have advanced communication skills.  Must communicate effectively with all employee and management levels, especially the production supervisor and Quality Control

This position is responsible for shop production, writing CNC programs, assisting other employees, general shopkeeping duties, preventive maintenance programs, contributing to the effectiveness of the quality program, and other duties as assigned.

is position reports to the Production Manager of Precision Machining and any Training and Development personnel.  Additionally, this position may include weekend responsibilities. 

 

Key Results & Duties:

1.     General Shopkeeping

a.     Demonstrates basic cleanliness skills.  Keeps machine and floor around machine clean when finished with job and at the end of shift.

b.     Shows cooperation in overall shop housekeeping.

 

2.     General and Technical Knowledge

Must possess all knowledge of the previous level. (Level 1)

Willingness to work overtime

Problem Solver

Outstanding Attendance

Motivated to learn

Level 1 require 1 to 2 years of experience

 

Level 2 Requires:

Able to set up and run 1 machine and consistently hit productivity and quality targets

Comprehensive knowledge of programming, set up and GD&T

Troubleshoot effectively

Continuous Improvement mindset

Team Oriented

Low scrap rate

3+ years of experience

 

Level 3 Requires:

5+ years experience.   All of the requirements of Level 1 and 2 PLUS

Run minimum of 2 machines

Quick turn over on high priority setups

Improve throughput by adjusting speeds, feeds, toolpaths, cutters , and fixturing

Generates Continuous Improvement

Independent with Setups

Improves Efficiency/Quality/Speed

Develops others as an extension of the leadership team

3.     Quality System Procedures

4.     Administrative / Training / Safety

a.     Participates in training classes and schools offered by the employer.

b.     Uses appropriate safety gear.

c.     This employee must work well as part of team management and be able to motivate people.  Must be dedicated to the success of the whole team.

d.     Works closely with Shop Job Scheduler to stay aware of the shop floor status.

e.     This employee will train lower level employees as designated by management.

f.      Acts as a shop floor liaison to Level 1 Employees and Management; keeps the dialogue current and Management informed of the status of the shop floor.  As liaison, he will also assist other employees on the shop floor with any problems they may encounter.

g.     Has general knowledge of vendors and what is ordered from whom.  Able to work effectively with Purchasing.

5.         a.  Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust.

            b.  Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including

                  hearing protection if required.  Able to work in non-climate-controlled work areas

                  and outside if needed.

             c.  Lifting in excess of forty (40) pounds may be required.

             d.  Able to twist/bend (neck and waist) and stoop.

             e.  Able to work in an awkward position as required.  Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.    

                 

Basic Qualifications:

Must have experience in the following job skills:

·       High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 

·       Related experience and have CNC Machining skills
