Overview

    • We seek a dental assistant who will be responsible for providing patient care, managing office operations, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment. The ideal candidate will assist the dentist during procedures, handle patient records, and adhere to infection control protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
    • Greet patients warmly and make them feel comfortable
    • Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available
    • Assist the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and providing patient comfort
    • Educate patients on oral health care practices and procedures
    • Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor, especially with anxious or nervous patients
  • Office Management:
    • Handle patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
    • Manage dental office inventory, ordering supplies as needed and maintaining adequate stock levels
    • Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing insurance claims
  • Infection Control:
    • Adhere to strict sterilization protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment
    • Disinfect treatment rooms and equipment according to OSHA regulations
    • Properly sterilize dental instruments and handpieces
    • Ensure that all safety measures are followed to prevent the spread of infection
  • Clinical Procedures:
    • Perform expanded functions as allowed by state law, such as taking impressions, applying fluoride, and assisting with dental sealants
    • Prepare dental materials, such as mixing cements and impression materials
    • Monitor patient vital signs during procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology
  • Proficiency in computer software, including dental practice management systems
  • Commitment to continuing education to stay updated on the latest dental practices and technologies
