SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Manage the continuous improvement efforts and other related projects in support of the Manufacturing Plant, Overall Facility, and Research and Development Lab & Pilot Plants
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable to provide all capital justifications & budget, and for the execution of all equipment upgrades, new equipment, automation and other capital projects – on time and on budget.
- Provide engineering support and technical expertise to capital projects from inception of investigation through execution
- Responsible for all aspects of project including: collecting background information, soliciting proposals from potential vendors, recommending solutions for process gaps, maintaining communication with vendors, managing contractors, and developing installation and commissioning plans.
- Lead project reviews, technology selections, vendor assessments, and all related project related meetings and decisions
- Maintain an emphasis on safety as related to project activity including required Safety Training and Safety Performance.
- Provide updates as required on the overall project status including any successes or concerns.
- Accurately document all project related budget and schedule information.
- Adhere to Procurement policies during bid collection and evaluation.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
- Position reports to the Manager of Corporate Capital & Projects within Scientific Design’s Project Management Office
- This position will work closely with the Operations Team, Maintenance Team and the Quality & EHS Managers to ensure seamless integration of any plant modifications, such that any new operating procedures or quality control procedures are reviewed and implemented properly
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
- College graduate with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an applicable field.
- Minimum of 3 -7 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably in catalyst or fine chemicals, or comparable experience.
- Proven experience in project management
- Good oral and written English communication skills
- Strong knowledge of the facility and manufacturing machine operations - specifically pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical understanding.
- Ability to drive multiple initiatives in parallel with a focus on priority management
