Business Banker

Responsible for soliciting new business relationships and deepening existing customer relationships and referral sources. Analyzes loan requests and makes credit decisions based on compliance to policy, regulations, and investor guidelines. Manages a portfolio and facilitates commercial, mortgage, and installment loan requests. Serves as a representative in the local community through participation in community affairs and participating in marketing of the products and services.

Responsibilities

Business Development

•Build and maintain relationships with business clients, including small to medium-sized commercial entities.

•Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their financial needs, and providing personalized banking solutions.

•Identify and pursue opportunities to attract new business clients to the bank, leveraging your network and industry knowledge.

•Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the commercial loan portfolio and deposit base.

•Provide strategic financial advice and solutions to business clients, including cash management, treasury services, and other banking products.

•Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional banking products and services, such as merchant services, business credit cards, insurance and investment products, to meet clients' broader financial needs.

Loan Origination and Credit Analysis:

•Originate commercial, mortgage, and installment loans and credit facilities tailored to the needs of business and retail clients, including term loans, lines of credit, and commercial real estate financing.

•Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of loan applications, assessing the creditworthiness of borrowers, and analyzing the financial viability of proposed projects or ventures.

•Structure loan packages to mitigate risks and ensure alignment with the bank's lending policies, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.

Portfolio Management:

•Monitor the performance of the commercial loan portfolio, analyzing key metrics such as loan utilization, delinquency rates, and credit quality.

•Work with clients experiencing financial difficulties to develop strategies for loan workout or restructuring including collection of delinquent loans.

•Proactively manage credit risk by identifying potential issues and implementing appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of loan files and adhere to regulatory requirements for reporting and disclosure.

•Stay informed about changes in regulatory landscape and industry trends, and implement necessary adjustments to business practices accordingly.

•Ability to support the bank’s strong relationship culture through ongoing customer contact, quality member service, and superior product knowledge.

•Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices related to commercial, mortgage, and installment banking activities.

•This position utilizes discretion and operates independently with minimal direction, is confidential and adheres to the highest ethical standards with impeccable attention to detail.

Minimum qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.

•Previous bank/financial services industry experience.
