Job DescriptionJob Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive technical drawings and job traveler from supervisor and set up machines in accordance with these blueprints.
  • Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly
  • Receive a first article inspection
  • Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications
  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
  • Consider tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise
  • Debur parts when time and appropriate equipment permits
  • Clock in and out of each job on the computer
  • Maintain complete records or notes of pertinent set-up, machining or tooling information
  • Continually maintain machine and communicate problems and/or solutions to supervisors
  • Programs machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills, tools, attachments, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, and cutting, taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Inspect material to ensure to part made to customer’s specifications, Correct dimensions, Correct material grade

Working Environment

  • Keep area clean of trash, excess chips, scrap parts or excess material
  • Keep area clean of oil and grease
  • Tools not in use must be stored in appropriate area·
  • Tables and work areas are to be clear of unnecessary material and clutter
  • All prints, job travelers, employee time sheets, and any hard copies of programming information are to be kept in appropriate areas away from coolants, dust and chips (i.e. in a toolbox or on a clipboard)
  • Place scrap material in appropriate bins/buckets
  • Place worn out, unusable cutting tools in appropriate bins/buckets

Education & Experience

  • Formal training through vocational or technical school or equivalent experience
  • Solidworks knowledge preferred
  • Ability and proficiency in reading a blueprint mandatory
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement
  • Verbal Communication
  • Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Tooling, Coordination
  • Attention to Detail, Judgment
  • Physical stamina, physical strength – must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise
  • Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential

 

Schedule

M-Th 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Thirty minute unpaid lunch 12:00-12:30 PM. Overtime may be available on Fridays
