JOB TITLE: Forklift Operator

DEPARTMENT:Shipping

REPORTS TO: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION:Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Pleasant Prairie, WI

SUMMARY: The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift/ reach truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments. Performs a combination of tasks including but not limited to receiving, filling, shipping, and inspecting orders accurately and in a timely manner; efficiently and safely loads, unloads, and conveys materials. Various levels of skill are indicated below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
  • Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
  • Applies to the understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
  • Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
  • Reports any problems with materials or transportation to the supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS and LEVEL SETTING:

Level One Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate reach trucks, and other equipment as required,
  • Perform physical inventory requests
  • Printing and labeling SAP Tags Properly
  • Proficient at RF Scan gun
  • Material Transfers in SAP
  • Freezer put away in SAP
  • Cover Pack-off
  • Basic proficiency in SAP
  • Basic math, language, and reading skills.

Level Two Qualifications:

  • Intermediate SAP proficiency
  • Loading and unloading of trailers
  • Identify and complete incoming damages report, including photos
  • Verify exports are loaded and verify proper documentation

Level Three Qualifications:

  • Ability to cover cooler/freezer, including down stocking meat slots and verifying physical counts
  • Adherence to FIFO standards and rotations
  • Expert SAP proficiency
  • Knowledge of grinding department
  • Identify and complete incoming damages report, including photos
  • Verify exports are loaded and verify proper documentation
  • Train and lead lower-level forklift operators

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
  • Must be able to move and lift to a 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
